Switchyard privacy
Short version: the game keeps your progress on your own device, has no accounts, no cookies and no ads, and only sends anything to a server if you choose to post a score.
On your device
- Your best scores, medals, stars, streaks and settings are saved in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device unless you post a score.
- "Reset progress" in Settings erases all of it.
No trackers
- No accounts, no cookies, no analytics, no advertising.
- Fonts and every other file are served from this site, so your browser does not contact any third party while you play.
The leaderboard (optional)
Nothing is sent unless you turn on "Post my scores" and pick a nickname. If you do, the game stores:
- your nickname, score, stage and the time you posted;
- a two-letter country code, worked out by the hosting platform from your request (no city, no coordinates);
- a short one-way hash of a random key kept on your device, only so that "Remove my scores" can find your entries later.
While you are playing with posting turned on, your nickname, current score and country appear in "Playing now" and disappear about a minute and a half after you stop. The game never stores or shows your IP address. Nicknames are public, so please do not use your real name if you would rather not.
- "Remove my scores" in the Leaderboard panel deletes everything you posted from this device.
- Only the top scores are kept; older entries fall off the list.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Netlify. Like any web host, Netlify processes the technical details of each request (such as the IP address) in its own infrastructure logs, under its own privacy policy.
